It is wonderful that these poor oppressed souls could not arrange a procession under a red flag and go through the streets shouting "Bread or Blood!" It is noteworthy that the men who kicked the most against the reserve rule are men from the slums, who were street loafers and idlers before playing ball; the men whose ignorance and loaferism made them a burden on the community and who would fall to the same level if baseball were wiped out tomorrow.
