1 quote found searching on Hugh S. Fullerton

For five years or more I have been preaching every once in a while the extreme danger of the destruction of baseball by the gamblers. Every time anyone writes in that tone, the club owners guffaw and say the game is further above the reproach than Caesar’s wife ever dared to be. Last week, (Phillies Manager) Red Dooin exploded and declared that the gamblers had been trying to "fix" his pitchers. The truth is that the gamblers are getting stronger and stronger. The race horse end of gambling will soon die and no one knows it as well as the gamblers.
